CUSTOM SIGNS

Letters & Dust was originally created after observing the amount of waste in the wedding industry with regard to day of items. The spark of the business was in repurposing materials such as chalkboards and wood signs that clients used for signage. This is still a core value, as we try to prolong the lifecycle of all our material as long as possible. Using vinyl lettering has allowed us to get longer life out of materials such as acrylic, however the vinyl itself increases waste, so we are constantly adapting, and looking for new ways to reduce the wedding industry footprint. 

WHAT IS THE INVESTMENT?

For day-of details, which covers signs, printed items such as menus and place cards, and added touches such as cocktail napkins or matchboxes, L&D couples on average spend between $2500-$4500.

THE PROCESS

Day-of signage and paper goods are often some of the most exciting elements of your event, and we’re thrilled to begin that design journey with you!

 

01. INQUIRY

Fill out and submit the form below, I will let you know as soon as possible if I am available for your date! For prime wedding season dates, the sooner you submit an inquiry, the better. I suggest at least 8-12 months before the wedding.

02. BOOKING

Once you have paid your retainer (50% of your estimated total or $500 if you are unsure of your exact needs), and signed your contract, you are officially booked! Dates do fill up quickly, and I only take a limited number of projects per month.

03. THE DESIGN PROCESS

Around 90 days out from your event date, I will ask that you (or your planner), send over a completed list of needed signs and day-of paper details, as well as any design decks, moodboards or other visuals for me to see. This is when I will start putting together digital mock-ups for you, and we will refine everything until it is just right. One month prior to your event, I will request all your finalized wording.

04. EVENT DAY

If you choose to pick up your items, they are available two days prior to your event, and rentals need to be returned by the Tuesday after. If you have opted for delivery, I (or an associate) will be on site to install and place items as well as pick up at the end of the event or at an arranged time.

2026 UPDATES AND

IMPORTANT DETAILS

Our minimum investment amount for 2026 is $1000, this can be reached with sign orders, stationery as well as delivery + pickup services. Preference in booking for day-of dates will be given to those also utilizing L&D for their invitations - whether fully custom or semi-custom. Custom-build projects will be taken on as available, please reach out sooner rather than later with these projects.

In addition to production / rental costs, we charge a $350 design fee on all projects, which facilitates all communication, ordering and working with production partners, design time, also working with your coordinator or other pertinent vendors.   

RENTAL OPTIONS - OREGON / WASHINGTON ONLY

We have a large inventory of rental options ranging from clear, black, white and frosted acrylic to wooden signs and vintage framed mirrors and chalkboards. All rentals include easels and stands ( style depends on availability ). We offer a six day rental period, and all writing on the signs is custom to your unique event. Download our informative packet for price points and policies.

For our out of state clients, we can ship any of the below materials (panels only, no frames) in standard frame sizes up to 24x36". Anything larger incurs a dramatically expensive shipping charge. All out of state orders are also priced at keepsake price points so no return shipping is necessary.

CHALKBOARD / MATTE BLACK SIGNS

The general perception of chalkboards seems to be that they only work in rustic settings—not the case! Placing a beautiful chalkboard in a beautiful ornate frame with modern writing or elegant calligraphy makes it just as adaptable for urban and glam weddings!

MIRRORS

Mirrors are a glamorous statement piece for your event! We typically recommend they be used for indoor venues to avoid bright sun reflections, or just be sure they are placed in the shade for outdoor events. We have a wide variety of gold and silver framed mirrors as well as unframed and modern. 

WOOD SIGNS

We have a variety of light and dark wood unframed signs that are perfect for vineyard weddings, out door venues, or bringing a hint of nature into your industrial or urban space. 

CLEAR, BLACK, WHITE , & FROSTED ACRYLIC

These acrylic rental options lend themselves well to any event and pair well with the painted back acrylics which are only available as keepsakes. All artwork is custom and we have a variety of holders and easels to keep them clean and sleek.  

PAINTED BACK ACRYLIC

As much as we love the painted back acrylic signs, doing custom colors and designs was leading to far more waste than we can handle in our hearts, which is why in 2020 we will only be selling painted back acrylic signs outright—not offering them as rentals. Our recommendation is mixing our rental inventory with a keepsake welcome or bar sign in the painted acrylic so you can still have them at your event while the other signs can be returned and reused for more love stories. 

CUSTOM BUILDS / FABRIC SIGNS

We have had a very creative year in regards to custom builds as well as bringing fabric signs into inventory! There is a variety of fabrics available but the favorites are Velvet and Muslin. This section also showcases some printed signs, including printed card-stock and foam core.
